Policy Objective:

Our Student Charter for your self-directed learning with us at Learning People serves as a guide to empower students to take ownership of their learning journey. Self-directed learning is a process where students take initiative in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating goals, identifying resources, choosing and implementing appropriate strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes. This charter outlines the responsibilities, and principles that students should adhere to, ensuring a successful and fulfilling self-directed learning experience.

Scope:

The purpose of this Student Charter is to outline the rights, responsibilities, and expectations of students engaged in a study programme with Learning People. This document serves as a guide to ensure a productive, respectful, and supportive learning experience.

1 | Rights

Students participating in a study programme with Learning People have the right to:

  1. Quality Education: Access high-quality, accurate, and up-to-date learning materials.
  2. Flexible Learning: Career Pathways that are designed to allow our students to study part-time and fit their learning schedule around their personal and professional commitments.
  3. Support Services: Access support in their platform to support with course related material, technical assistance, and support services through Learning People.
  4. Feedback and Assessment: Receive timely and constructive feedback on progress and performance.
  5. Privacy and Security: Expect the privacy and security of their personal information and data in accordance with GDPR guidelines.
  6. Inclusive Environment: A study that is inclusive and equitable and free from discrimination and harassment.
  7. Academic Integrity: Engage in a study programme that upholds academic integrity and honesty.

 

2 | Responsibilities

Students participating in a study programme with Learning People are responsible for:

1. Proactive Engagement: Actively participating in their study programme, including attending scheduled check-ins with their StudentCare Consultant.

    • Take initiative in identifying your learning needs, seeking help and actively utilising available support services when needed.
    • Stay committed to your learning goals and consistently work towards them. Regularly review your progress and hold yourself accountable.

2. Time Management: Managing their time effectively to progress through their study programme and complete all their certifications with their enrolment period.

    • Create and adhere to a realistic schedule that balances learning with other life commitments.
    • Prioritise tasks and manage distractions to maximise productivity.

3. Communication: Interacting respectfully with mentors, instructors, and all Learning People employees in all communications and discussions.

    • All people who work for or on behalf of learning people have the right to work in an environment that is inclusive and free from discrimination and harassment.
    • Make sure to communicate any problems you encounter as soon as they arise, the sooner we know the more like that we will be able to provide support.

4. Adaptability and Resilience: Utilising feedback provided to improve performance and understanding.

    • Embrace challenges and view setbacks as opportunities for growth and learning.
    • Be flexible in adapting you learning plans and strategies as needed to overcome obstacles.

5. Technical Readiness: Ensure they have consistent and dependable access to the necessary technology, including a computer or laptop with the appropriate software and hardware specifications required for their courses and examinations

    • Have basic technical skills needed for online learning, such as navigating our learning platforms and troubleshooting common technical problems.
    • Securing a stable internet connection that meets the minimum speed requirements for accessing online classes, streaming lectures, and downloading materials.

6. Compliance: Abiding by all Learning People policies, including those related to conduct, exams, and use of resources.

 

By participating in self-directed study programme with Learning People, students acknowledge their understanding and acceptance of the rights, responsibilities, and expectations outlined in this charter.
