These insights into the digital and tech job market have been sourced from unique Adzuna job board listings between 1st October 2024 and 31st December 2024. 

The purpose of this is to give you insight into the job market that can guide your career choices, training, and development, ensuring better alignment with market demands.

Demand by area

Opportunities were concentrated in populous Australian states with demand across other regions in both countries. New South Wales (625) and Victoria (482), Australia, had the highest number of job postings. In New Zealand, there were 101 unspecified regional postings.

In Australia, the average salary was $136,000 AUD with the majority of digital and tech job listings listing a salary of $150,000-$160,000 AUD. In New Zealand the majority of job listings had a salary of $70,000-$80,000 NZD, with an overall average of $142,000 NZD.

Demand by role

The digital and tech roles with the highest demand across both regions were cyber security roles with 666 job listings; front line IT support with 513; and DevOps roles with 387.

The top companies hiring for digital and tech roles were the Australian Broadcasting Corporation with 55 job listings; Amazon with 42; and APS with 34.
