Tell us about yourself.

I'm Michael Ready, and I'm from Edinburgh, Scotland. I came across Learning People through an Instagram ad, and it really appealed to me because of the organisation's accountability. The consultancy process was excellent, and the support I received throughout was outstanding. Any questions I had were answered immediately, and it felt like a really supportive environment.

What job were you doing previously, and what are you doing now?

Previously, I was working as a music teacher, running a music school, and performing regularly. Now, I’m an IT Information Security Consultant, and it’s been fantastic.

What kind of impact did your Learning People experience have on your career journey?

The impact has been incredible. I earn a lot more money, work fewer hours, and have much greater job satisfaction. I'm genuinely enjoying my work a lot more now.

How was your career consultation?

Before the consultation, I had already studied a few qualifications. The career consultation phone call was really informative, though at first, it felt like a lot to take in. That said, every question I had was answered thoroughly, and I was able to hit the ground running.

Having a consultant tailored to me specifically, rather than just generic advice, made a huge difference. They helped me understand what worked and what didn’t in my CV, which was incredibly useful.

Tell us about your experience with StudentCare™

The StudentCare™ team was brilliant. They were always there to answer any questions I had, and their support was constant. For instance, there was a time when I hadn’t logged in for a while due to other commitments, and they called to check in and make sure everything was okay.

I also attended a couple of online course mentoring calls, which were fabulous—especially before exams.

Tell us about your experience with the Career Services team.

One standout moment with the Career Services team was after I had gone through the entire process—updating my CV, LinkedIn profile, and completing interviews. I landed a job, but my Career Consultant went the extra mile by asking me, “Are you happy with this offer?”

This question made me stop and reflect on what I really wanted. That level of care and attention was just brilliant. The whole team was fantastic and truly helped me secure a role that I’m genuinely happy with.

Tell us about the impact this experience has had on your career journey.

I feel fantastic about my career direction. I’m in a great role, and everything is going really well. The experience with Learning People taught me the importance of working hard and believing that your goals are within reach if you put in the effort.

What was the best part of your learning journey?

One highlight was when a former Learning People student shared their story with us. It gave a realistic perspective on what to expect in the industry, which was both inspiring and grounding.

What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling?

Do your homework. Read and learn as much as you can before starting and prepare well. It will benefit you so much in the long run.

Was it worth the investment?

Absolutely, it was worth the investment. You can’t put a price on happiness, but the value of this experience far exceeded my expectations.
